If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive. ~ Eleonora Duse
In 1865 the great landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted looked out over the Yosemite Valley and saw a place worth saving. He urged the California legislature to protect it from rampant development. Olmsted had already designed Central Park in New York City; he was convinced that beautiful green spaces should exist for all people to enjoy. “It is a scientific fact,” he wrote, “that the occasional contemplation of natural scenes of an impressive character … is favorable to the health and vigor of men and especially to the health and vigor of their intellect.”
Serenity and peace are luxuries in this technological era. It is the reality of what our society has become today. There are more problems and difficulties these days, most people have been stressed and tired. And most of them try different methods of escape. Drugs, smoking etc. But these in turn harm you the more we depend on them. We fail to realize that the best escape from stress is around us; our Mother Nature.
Getting out isn’t the hard part. Enjoy the moment. That’s usually difficult for many. Everyone is ready to travel. But not a minute later, and most of them are on their phone or laptop. It has become a part of who we are and what we do. We can’t seem to stay away from technology, however hard we try to. Hence, it necessary we need to ditch them.
Technology-free moments with the outside world are something we should do more often. Camping, trekking, and hiking. Three best ways to be in one with the world around us. For all the Keralites out there, reach out to Campper today and explore the wilderness.
